"We Fight. You Recover."
Dear Clients:
I wanted to share some quick thoughts with you about “T.V. lawyers.” Every week, I receive at least one call from an upset, dissatisfied injured person who hired a lawyer based solely upon their T.V. advertising.
I have spoken to many, many folks who have, after a year or more, never even met their lawyer. That is because firms like Morgan & Morgan, Ken Nugent or Farah & Farah and others simply take the calls and then refer people out to other lawyers located all over the State. Recently, a nice lady who lives in Douglas told me that she severely injured her back a year ago and called “One Call, That’s All.” She was promptly referred to an unknown lawyer who practices in Marietta, Georgia. Even after a year, she has never met that lawyer and he consistently fails to return her telephone calls. She wanted me to take over her case.
Here are just some of the problems with T.V. lawyers: they do everything based upon volume. For them, injured people are no more than widgets on an assembly line. They want to move cases as quickly and inexpensively as possible. I frequently see them settle cases for only 20-25% of their true value. Also, T.V. lawyers are usually located 4 or 5 hours away from their client and, therefore, there is little chance that the necessary personal relationship between a lawyer and the client will ever be established.
An injured person needs to be able to reach his or her attorney at a moment’s notice. He or she needs to be able to personally meet with the attorney and the attorney’s staff at any time.
In short, hiring a T.V. lawyer will usually result in poor representation, poor attorney/client communication and low settlements or verdicts. When you, your family or your friends are deciding on an attorney, don’t be fooled by slick T.V. ads. Remember, anybody can make an ad. Instead, research and talk to other people who you know have been through the same ordeal. They are your best sources of honest and accurate information.
Shirl, Kate, Diana, Nation, McKenzie and I send to you our best regards!
Bruce
